The crushed and empty can came flying out of the grocery truck then landed on the street with a dull clang. Shale shifted through more boxes, only to find more empty cans and boxes which soon landed among the first can. The older brother, after searching through each and every box, climbed out of the truck with only a can of tomatoes that still had the possibility of being eatable and a few water bottles.
"Looks like this place is a lot emptier than I though…," he muttered to himself with a heavy sigh.
After locating his little brother, Shale approached him, hoping that he had more luck. Cole tugged and tugged on the chain that held the two metal gates of the pharmacy together, desperate to get inside and hopefully get some supplies. They had been lucky, health wise, up to this point but he wasn’t taking an chances.
Cole looked toward his older brother. “What do you think, Shale?” The older brother examined the chain and gates closely then squatted on the ground as he rummaged through their large gray backpack. Shale then pulled out the blood sainted blot cutters he had found a few months earlier, which had come in good handy, especially when fighting off zombies.
Shale easily cut through the rusty chain then pushed the gates open. He immediately turned toward his younger brother, “Put your scarf up over your mouth and nose. Who knows that could be hiding in there.” Obediently, Cole followed his brother’s instructions as Shale tied his bandana over his nose and mouth. After checking to see if the other was ready, the siblings entered the pharmacy, unsure of what they might find.
Oncie heard something fall and ran towards the sound, hoping something wouldn’t come and kill her, “Hello!? Any here!?”
